I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.

Some drive problems can be easily fixed by yourself using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.

don't know what causes your problem (but it couldn't hurt to scan your p.c. for viruses)

i do know you can import favorites (and passwords) from IE to firefox.

click on "file" (top left of the screen) and then on "import"

good luck!

You might try turning off the automatic phishing filter in IE7. It blocks a lot of services that draw information from your system (such as AIM Triton searching for your network settings through Internet Explorer. Triton will not connect to the servers if the phishing filter is activated, as of 10/19/2006). To solve this problem, click:

Tools %26gt; Phishing Filter %26gt; Turn off Automatic Phishing Filter

Although I am unsure about your first problem with redirection, I am assuming this comes from a high internet security setting. Try:

Tools %26gt; Internet Options %26gt; 'Security' Tab %26gt; Medium High for the setting.

Thanks

On IE 7 is there a way to have the Links Bar visible without have the actual word Links Visible?

This is how it shows up in IE

:Links [Link1] [Link2] [Link3]

I'd like it to look like this

[Link1] [Link2] [Link3]

Thank you for your help!

No... you should mess with the registry of IE..

its not at all recommended and higlly risky and it may end up crashing your os..

just leave it as is

My IE is acting up...?

Since i re-register for norton is been acting up-i have IE 7 and when i put in a url and press search it doesnt do anything and then when i hit the x to close it , it gets stuck and sometimes freezes, i had firefox long time ago and the guy at the comp store said firefox causes alot of viruses, so i wont dl that again, but does anyone know whats up? help..

My IE is acting up...?uninstall internet explorer

If your going to get a virus from a site, its most likely going to be with Internet Explorer then Firefox.

My IE is acting up...?microsoft.com internet explorer

WOW THE GUY AT THE COMPUTER STORE IS A LIAR.

Everybody knows firefox is far more secure the I.E.

It's a proven fact.
Ugh... you've been talking to idiots. FireFox does not cause any problems other than huge memory leaks and occasional security holes.

I would get rid of Norton and use Nod32 if you desire an antivirus. Then, reinstall IE, make sure that you configure the zones properly, and then remove execute permission from the local settings folder for your user account. Congrats, IE is secure.

I would also run housecall.trendmicro.com and system file checker.

To run system file checker, Start%26gt;%26gt;run, type in "sfc /scannow" and hit enter.
Norton Internet security is probably causing the issue. Norton does that! Try this:

On the IE toolbar go to Tools | Manage Add-ons | Enable and Disable Add-ons, find the reference to Norton Internet Security, or anything Norton. Click it on then go down and disable the feature(s). Then shut down IE and restart. See if that helps. Then call Norton and tell them that their software is broken! :-)
Go the microsoft website and re-download I%26gt;E 7 if it still doesn't work try these popular browsers

www.mozilla.com

www.opera.com
Agree that Firefox is more secure that IE. Norton is also known to slow your computer down. Three free solutions:

Firefox

Zone Alarm (firewall)

AVG (Antivirus)

I would remove (uninstall) Norton and replace it with the above.
your best bet is to get rid of norton and firefox doesn`t cause viruses. it blocks viruses. spysweeper is a good program to have on your computer and it works well with norton.

Installing IE link/connection on guest log in(desktop)?

How do I go about installing a link and/or connection to the internet thru the guest login???

I(the admin) have the IE icon on my login and I'm able to access the internet thru my (password protected)login. But, my grand daugther needs her own login/internet connection on the 'guest' login for the time being.

So, how should I go about setting her up w/ an internet connection???

Thanks in advance!

Installing IE link/connection on guest log in(desktop)?ie tab

From the Guest Account, click Start, then All Programs. A list of all the programs will come up. Rightclick on Internet Explorer. A menu will come up, select Create Shortcut. That will create the shortcut (icon link) on the desktop.

EDIT: Sorry the shortcut's not working right; I'm not sure what the prob is. You could try posting on the Microsoft Community Discussion Board:
